Birmingham taxi campaign promotes Chicago
A new promotional campaign has been launched in Birmingham to encourage local people to consider taking a city break in Chicago.
The Chicago and Illinois Tourist Office (CITO) has sent a fleet of ten taxis out onto the streets of the West Midlands city, some of which will offer free rides on the first and last days of the campaign as well as the chance to enter a competition to win a shopping holiday in the US.
Inside the cabs, passengers will find details on how to enter the competition by answering a question about Chicago online.
The promotional cars will be driving the streets of central Birmingham from October 15th to November 15th.
Jan Kostner, deputy director of the CITO, said: "The Chicago-branded taxis highlight our diverse shopping scene and holiday shopping incentives while giving Brummies a taste of the city on us.
"Through the free rides and complimentary holiday, we will show people why Chicago is the ideal city break."
Aer Lingus, Continental Airlines and Air France are among the airlines that offer flights to Chicago from Birmingham Airport, which operate via cities including Dublin, New York and Paris.
