New campaign to promote Northern Ireland tourism
Flights to Belfast and Londonderry in Northern Ireland could see more demand over the coming months following the launch of a new promotional campaign.
Tourism minister Arlene Foster announced a £1.2 million initiative that will encourage British travellers to pay a visit to Northern Ireland now and in the early months of 2010.
Ms Foster said that local tourism can play an important part in the economic growth of Northern Ireland.
Introducing the campaign, the minister said: "It will focus on making Northern Ireland stand out from its competitors by highlighting the wide range of culture, festivals and local food on offer, along with the genuine warmth and welcome of the people here.
"The campaign will also bring value for money to the forefront, maximising the benefits of the current exchange rate."
A number of industry partners will be involved in the promotions, including Aer Lingus and the Belfast Visitor Convention Bureau.
Flights to Belfast and Londonderry in Northern Ireland are available with carriers including easyJet and bmi.
