SAS has announced that it has extended the range of
travel technology options available to its passengers with the introduction of mobile boarding passes.
The airline highlighted the fact that its customers can now travel using only their mobile phone and a passport.
Users of the service will be sent a 2D barcode that can be read electronically at the airport and used at security screening points, duty-free shopping areas and when boarding.
The facility is available on domestic SAS flights within Scandinavia and
Finland as well as services to
Europe and
Asia.
Lena Rokaas, the airline's vice-president of customer services, said: "Now customers can check in on our mobile site or via SMS and receive a 2D bar code that functions as their mobile boarding pass.
"For years we have worked hard on providing our customers' time-efficient travel solutions and with the introduction of mobile boarding passes we have taken one step closer to hassle-free travel."
SAS operates flights to
Bangkok,
Tokyo,
New York and several other destinations from
Copenhagen, one of its bases in Scandinavia.
