'Bright future' predicted in Noosa
The tourist board representing the Noosa region of Queensland in Australia has predicted a "bright future" for the destination.
Tourism Noosa commissioned a report to be carried out by economic firm EMDA, which found that visitor numbers are expected to increase over the coming years, with spending by holidaymakers set to exceed AU$1 billion (£563 million) by 2020.
Steve Cooper, chief executive of the tourist board, said that the increasing revenue will help the region to maintain its sustainable approach to the travel industry.
"Our philosophy in managing tourism for Noosa is to minimise the impact of visitation while increasing benefits across the community," he said.
"We are focusing on growing visitor yield, through greater length of stay and strong product offerings, as opposed to simply developing Noosa as a mass tourism destination."
Noosa is set to see an increasing number of visitors from Melbourne and Sydney over the coming years.
The easiest way for foreigners to visit the destination is by catching flights to Brisbane and travelling north along the coast.
