Flights to Istanbul to be introduced by Finnair
Finnair will introduce flights to Istanbul and make a number of route alterations as part of its winter schedule, which came into effect yesterday (October 25th).
The airline will operate up to four flights a week to Turkey's largest city, which will be served during the winter months by the airline for the first time.
To make way for the Istanbul route, Finnair will remove its flights to Rome from the winter schedule.
Elsewhere, flights to Bangkok will receive a second daily flight, while a route to Phuket will commence using Finnair's own Airbus aircraft three times per week.
Petteri Kostermaa, Finnair's vice president of route strategy and traffic planning, said: "The two daily flights on the Bangkok route, which is particularly important for Finns, reflect the popularity of Thailand tourism."
The carrier is also implementing a fifth weekly flight to Tokyo after experiencing increased demand on the route.
In 2006, Finnair accommodated approximately 8.8 million passengers on its network of 15 domestic and 55 international destinations.
