Finnair introduces new US flight security
Airline Finnair has announced new security measures for passengers flying long-haul to the US.
According to the company, the secure flight requirement is to come into place to ensure its planes comply with US Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
The process, which comes into effect from October 31st, means passengers will need to supply their full name as it appears on their passport along with date of birth and gender when booking.
Information is sent to TSA up to 72 hours before boarding, which then compares passenger information with watchlists set up to identify potential problem passengers or terrorists.
Finnair stated: "When a passenger's information has been compared with the watch lists, the Secure Flight system sends the result to the airline.
"If the screening result is negative, the passenger cannot be accepted for the flight without further investigation."
Passengers who do not undertake a screening test will not be allowed to fly with the airline.
