Air Canada to launch new domestic flights

Travellers planning trips in Canada next year will be able to make use of a new domestic service being launched by the country's national carrier.

Air Canada announced that it will launch flights to Iqaluit in the territory of Nunavut on March 28th.

The new link will operate on a daily basis from the Canadian cities of Montreal and Ottawa.

Marcel Forget, vice-president of network planning for Air Canada, said the service is part of a strategic expansion of the carrier's domestic operations.

He added: "We expect our new service to be popular with both government and business travellers, as well as leisure travellers looking to experience the striking and remarkable landscape of Canada's Arctic.

"The introduction of flights from Air Canada's newest and most northern destination to both Montreal and Ottawa links Canada's eastern Arctic directly to our global network with convenient connections to points across our extensive domestic, trans-border and international network."

The flights will be operated by a Bombardier CRJ 705 aircraft offering 75 seats in executive and economy class cabins.

Air Canada's domestic network includes connections to several cities throughout the country, including Calgary, Vancouver and Winnipeg.
