A new initiative designed to provide information for tourists is being trialled in
Rome.
The council has employed assistants who will be based in some of the destination's main tourist locations, including airports, train stations and the city centre.
Known as 'tourist angels', the individuals will travel around on Segways - electronic vehicles with a top speed of 6km per hour - and provide help and advice to tourists in various languages, including Italian, English, Spanish and Chinese.
Visitors will be able to spot the assistants by their bright jumpers with 'ask me' written on the back and can enquire about various subjects, including the best way to get around
Italy's capital city and sights worth seeing.
The trial was launched earlier this month and will continue until January 8th 2010, with the helpers working every day including holidays.
People interested in visiting the city can catch flights to
Rome with several airlines, including
British Airways,
Alitalia and
easyJet.
