Tourism Queensland has revealed that 2010 is set to be an "event-filled year" in the state.
Brisbane will be at the heart of the programme, hosting events including the Asia Pacific Triennial, a major exhibition at the Gallery of Modern Art that will run from December 5th to April 5th next year.
The city will also provide the setting for a number of sports meetings, including the
Brisbane International tennis competition from January 3rd to 10th.
People planning to absorb some local culture during their trip to
Australia can visit Queensland's Gold Coast between January 1st and 17th next year to experience the Magic Millions Carnival and Yearling Sales.
The Australian Surf Lifesaving Championships will come to Kurrawa Beach on the Gold Coast from March 16th to 21st next year, while the 61st Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht Race will set off on April 2nd.
One of the easiest ways for travellers to get to Queensland is by catching flights to Brisbane, which are available with carriers including
Qantas,
Etihad Airways and
Emirates.
