Canada visitors given affordable holiday tips
The Canadian Tourism Commission has given travellers some recommendations on the range of experiences and activities on offer across the country for less than $20 (£11.30).
People planning to visit eastern Canada in January and February next year will have the opportunity to attend Igloofest and the High Lights Festival, both of which will be held in Montreal.
Quebec could also prove a popular destination during the first two months of the year when it hosts its Winter Carnival, which charges $10 for entry to most sites and activities.
Billed as the biggest winter carnival in the world, the event features dogsled and canoe races, night-time parades and more.
Edmonton will soon boast a brand new attraction, with the Art Gallery of Alberta scheduled to open early in 2010.
Other affordable attractions in the province include the International Ice Carving Competition at Lake Louise in late January and a trip to see the Calgary Hitmen ice hockey team.
Holidaymakers planning to visit British Columbia can head to Victoria for the city's Tea Festival in February or get close to nature at the Northern Lights Wildlife Wolf Centre in Golden.
