Canadian ski resort sees record snowfall
The Whistler ski resort in Canada has already exceeded its record for snowfall in November this month, it has been announced.
Tourism British Columbia revealed that more than 430cm of snow has fallen so far, beating the previous record of 416cm set in November 2006.
According to the tourism agency, there has "never been a better time" to visit Whistler or the nearby city of Vancouver owing to the cheap accommodation prices currently on offer and the excellent conditions.
People on skiing holidays will also benefit from a major upgrade to the Sea-to-Sky Highway, a transport link between Vancouver and the resort.
Tourism Whistler's vice-president of marketing, Arlene Schieven, said: "Whistler is currently offering some of the best value for accommodation and lift ticket packages in its history and the atmosphere here is more inviting and exciting than ever.
"With all the early snow, we are off to a great start this winter season."
Vancouver will welcome sports fans and competitors from around the world in February 2010 when it hosts the Winter Olympic Games.
