People thinking of catching flights to
New York should travel over the festive season, as one expert has said it is a "magical" time in the city.
Anna Catchpole, PR manager for NYC & Company, a marketing, tourism and partnership organisation, said that it is a great time to visit the city as there are lots of new hotels and rates are relatively low.
"Christmas is a magical time to visit New York City. You can't beat the atmosphere, the lights and the window displays so it is always a popular time for Brits to visit," she said.
The expert said that there are also bargains to be found, with new accommodation offering great opening rates.
A new deal between
London and
New York also means that the two cities will share information on best practice within the travel sector, which may lead to better journeys for holidaymakers.
Recent research from Hotels.com's Hotel Price Index for January to June this year showed that New York overtook
Las Vegas as the destination with the fastest growth in hotel room numbers.
