Passengers from
Liverpool Airport will now have easier access to the island of
Malta, after
easyJet extended its flights to the destination.
The airline will now run twice-weekly routes to
Malta as part of next year's summer schedule, starting on June 13th.
Robin Tudor, head of public relations for Peel Airports, which runs the hub, said that the news is "great" as it gives passengers from the area more choice and good, low fares to the island.
Trevor Spinks, easyJet's marketing manager for the north-west, added: "EasyJet is clearly the airline of choice in the region as increasing numbers of passengers choose our low fares [and] convenient product to major airports."
The spokesman also suggested that passengers from the airport could see more new or extended routes soon, saying the airline is looking at further expansion.
Earlier this month, easyJet revealed that two new routes, to
Fuerteventura and
Lanzarote, would be launched from the airport after it introduced a new Airbus A320 to the base.
