The Central America Tourism Agency (CATA) has introduced a new campaign to boost awareness of the region in the
UK.
Unveiled at the World Travel Market in
London earlier this month, the initiative is being launched in partnership with companies including
Iberia.
It will see a total of 122 branded taxis driving around the streets of London until March 2010.
The CATA is also running a similar campaign in
Madrid and
Barcelona, with buses being used to carry the promotional messages in some of the cities' busiest areas.
In other regional tourism news, the CATA announced that a steam train service had been launched in Monteverde National Park in
Costa Rica.
Passengers will have the opportunity to see a variety of wildlife during the rail journey, including capuchin monkeys, coatis, peccaries and hummingbirds.
At the end of its 90-minute route, the train service offers views of Costa Rica's Arenal volcano, which is reportedly one of the ten most active volcanoes in the world.
Other countries that travellers can visit in Central America include
El Salvador,
Nicaragua and
Guatemala.
