Classic musicals to be celebrated in Dublin
Travellers planning to celebrate New Year's Eve in Dublin might want to hang around after the celebrations have ended and the debris of dozens of parties has been swept up to enjoy some musical entertainment.
On January 2nd and 3rd, Dublin's National Concert Hall will host four performances of The Wizard of Oz.
All of the classic songs from the original movie feature in this stage adaptation, including Somewhere Over the Rainbow and We're Off to See the Wizard.
The show also includes the film's much-loved characters, with Tony Finnegan as the Lion, Jimmy Dixon playing the Tin Man and Mel Ryan filling the role of Glinda.
People enjoying city breaks in Ireland's capital will also be able to visit the National Concert Hall on January 6th for the Gilbert and Sullivan Gala.
The concert will feature performances of songs from the creative duo's most famous comic operas, including HMS Pinafore, The Pirates of Penzance and The Mikado.
Several carriers will be offering flights to Dublin during the Christmas period, including bmi, Aer Lingus and Air France.
