Flybe to commence new route from Glasgow Prestwick
A new route from Glasgow Airport will get underway to Jersey next summer, it has been confirmed.
Regional airline Flybe will launch the service every Saturday from June 19th to September 11th, providing an air link between the west of Scotland and the Channel Island for the first time in a number of years.
The route was announced by Jersey-based CI Travel Group, whose managing director Robert Mackenzie said he is "delighted" that it would be commencing in summer next year.
"With many more UK holiday-takers deserting the eurozone in favour of a holiday closer to home, we believe that this new route will prove to be popular with both new and existing clients in central and southern Scotland," he commented.
Glasgow Prestwick is handily located close to the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh, with approximately two million people living within an hour's drive from the airport.
Flybe was recently awarded the Most Environmentally and Socially Responsible Budget Airline prize at this year's British Travel Awards for the second year in succession.
