EasyJet has announced that it will launch 36 new routes next year in an expansion that will make it the north of England's largest airline.
Major developments will include the addition of
Doncaster-Sheffield Airport to the carrier's network, with flights to
Amsterdam,
Barcelona,
Palma,
Prague and
Faro set to be launched for the summer season.
Travellers will also be offered new services from
Manchester Airport to
Menorca,
Zurich and
Sharm el Sheikh when easyJet bases a fifth aircraft at the north-west gateway.
With a total of 20 aircraft based at airports in the north of England, the airline expects to carry over six million passengers to and from the region in the coming year.
Paul Simmons, the carrier's general manager in the UK, said: "easyJet is committed to expansion across the UK regions, tapping in to new catchment areas such as Yorkshire and Humberside and providing greater access to our famously low fares and convenient services from your local airport."
There will be further developments in other regions, with
Bristol Airport set to host new flights to
Tenerife and
Paphos, while
Gatwick Airport will get a new link to
Bordeaux.
