First A380 flight to Seoul touches down
Emirates has launched the first A380 flight to Seoul, after the service touched down in the South Korean capital today (December 14th).
It is the first time the double-deck airliner has touched down at Incheon International Airport, with the maiden flight bringing together passengers from 27 countries on its journey from Dubai.
Emirates' president Tim Clark said the airline is "delighted" that the first commercial A380 service had landed on Korean soil.
"Our flights have connected Korea to potential and emerging Middle East and African markets thus creating new business opportunities," he commented.
Mr Clark added that Emirates' flights to Korea are used by 70,000 business and leisure passengers each year, although this figure is expected to grow now that the A380 has entered service.
The arrival of the A380 goes hand-in-hand with the Korean government's aim to turn Incheon International Airport into an important Asian hub.
Earlier this month, Emirates also opened a new luxury lounge in Johannesburg's Tambo International Airport.
