Flights to Malta make it 'ideal' short break destination
Travelling on flights to Malta offers access to an island destination equally suited to a short break as it is to a two-week holiday.
This is according to the Malta Tourism Authority. UK and Ireland director Alex Incorvaja said he is "cautiously optimistic" about tourist numbers in 2010.
"Malta is only 360 km sq so we are pretty small but we have history, some fantastic hotels, nice restaurants, picturesque museums and historical sites," he commented.
Mr Incorvaja went on to say that the Mediterranean archipelago is "ideal" for either a weekend break or a stay of seven to 14 nights.
Air Malta and easyJet both offer cheap flights to Malta from the UK, while low-cost airline bmibaby is introducing flights to the destination from East Midlands Airport next year.
Malta was named in the recently-published Post Office Holiday Costs Barometer as the third-cheapest country in the eurozone after Spain and Portugal.
