Maldives gets first Holiday Inn resort
The first Holiday Inn resort in the Maldives officially opened its doors today (December 15th).
Located on Kandoome island on the South Male atoll, the property is a 40-minute speedboat ride away from the country's main international airport in Male.
Visitors will benefit from access to "world-class" surf and dive sites such as the Kandooma channel and caves, according to Holiday Inn.
Business travellers are also expected to show demand for rooms at the new resort, which boast state-of-the-art facilities including flat-screen televisions and wireless internet access.
General manager Brendan Corcoran said: "Holiday Inn Resort Kandooma Maldives offers the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure.
"With our modern facilities, enhanced service experience and convenient location, the resort is a fantastic island getaway. Guests can participate in various watersports, or simply find respite in the comfort of their villas and blue surroundings."
The Maldives is an island nation located south-west of India and Sri Lanka in the Indian Ocean.
