Qantas flights 'won't be affected by British Airways strikes'
Qantas has announced that its flights between Australia and the UK will not be affected by planned industrial action by British Airways' (BA) cabin crew.
The carrier said that its customers, including those who are booked on codeshare flights operated by British Airways, remain its "first priority".
David Epstein, Qantas' government and corporate affairs spokesman, reassured passengers that services between Australia and the UK will operate as planned over Christmas and the New Year period.
He added: "The action does, however, have the potential to disrupt the travel plans of Qantas customers booked on BA services.
"We have determined we have sufficient capacity across the 12 days to accommodate Qantas ticketed passengers booked on BA codeshare flights between Australia and the UK on existing Qantas services. This will provide certainty for Qantas customers travelling to and from the UK."
British Airways' cabin crew staff voted in favour of industrial action between December 22nd and January 2nd.
The airline said it was "extremely disappointed" at the move from the Unite union and described the planned 12-day strike as "completely unjustified".
