Art lovers will be arranging their
city breaks in
New York soon to see a landmark exhibition set to be launched next year.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art will celebrate Pablo Picasso in an extensive new display, which will open on April 27th and run until August 1st.
It is the first exhibition to focus exclusively on Picasso works from the museum's collection.
Visitors will be able to see around 150 pieces by the great artist, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, ceramics and prints.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art claims that its Picasso collection "stands apart" owing to its variety of early figure paintings and an extensive archive of drawings.
Travellers visiting
New York over the Christmas period will be able to see a showcase of Japanese arms and armour at the museum.
Swords, archery equipment, banners, firearms and other items thought to have been used by samurai warriors feature in the exhibition, which will run until January 10th 2010.
