People travelling in
Australia next year will be able to take advantage of increased capacity on
Qantas' domestic flight network.
The airline announced that, following strong demand, it would begin boosting capacity on its Australian services from March 29th 2010.
Over the next year, there will be more than 340,000 seats available across the carrier's range of domestic routes.
Travellers will be offered more capacity on flights linking
Adelaide to
Melbourne,
Brisbane to
Cairns and
Sydney to
Ayers Rock.
Qantas chief executive officer Alan Joyce said: "We are seeing some improvements in domestic demand and so the time is right to begin restoring capacity to ensure we are well placed to meet that demand.
"The changes will see the addition of a total of 19 return services across selected routes, while capacity will be restored on others by upgrading from Boeing 737 to larger Boeing 767 aircraft."
Qantas recently unveiled a number of improvements at
Perth Airport as part of its terminal upgrade programme, including a new security screening facility, three extra baggage carousels and six new check-in counters.
