New ski facilities on offer in Slovenia
Travellers who choose Slovenia for their skiing holiday during the 2009-10 winter season will be able to take advantage of a number of new facilities in the country.
There will be two high-profile openings on December 23rd, starting with the new ski piste linking the Slovenian resort of Kanin with Sella Nevea in Italy.
An aerial lift and ski run will be made available to skiers and snowboarders, who can buy a single pass providing access to pistes on both sides of the border.
The second major opening will be that of a new gondola lift at Maribor Pohorje, the largest ski area in Slovenia.
Up to 1,000 people will be able to use the lift every hour.
It will carry passengers from the foot to the summit of the Pohorje mountain in six minutes.
Other additions to the country's ski resort infrastructure include a children's outdoor play area at the Kranjska Gora resort and a new snow park at Cerkno in the north-west.
Travellers interested in visiting Slovenia can catch flights to Ljubljana with Adria Airways, Swiss, Czech Airlines and other carriers.
