Hamilton Island offers inspiration for travellers

Travellers planning a trip to Australia this year have been offered a number of reasons to visit Hamilton Island off the coast of Queensland.

The local tourism authority provided details of a number of events that will be taking place this year, such as the Audi Hamilton Island Race Week at the end of August and the annual triathlon between November 28th and December 4th.

People with a taste for good food can visit the destination between March 12th and 14th for the Great Barrier Feast.

Described as the "ultimate food and wine weekend", the event will feature renowned Australian chef Tetsuya Wakuda.

Between June 11th and 13th, Hamilton Island's qualia resort will host the Australian Ballet for a performance of Pas de Deux in Paradise.

In addition to its schedule of events, the island provides the opportunity for visitors to take part in activities ranging from scuba diving and windsurfing to whale watching in September.

Travellers can choose from flights to several Australian destinations if they are planning to visit Queensland, including Brisbane and Cairns.
