Abta, Britain's travel industry association, has welcomed the announcement that British workers will have an extra day off in 2012.
To mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, there will be an extra bank holiday available in June, business secretary Peter Mandelson announced.
The new day off will be given on June 5th, with the traditional May bank holiday to be moved to June 4th as part of the celebrations.
Abta said that, as families are still likely to go away during the school half-term break in May, the additional day will "give everyone another opportunity to get away and relax".
Chief executive Mark Tanzer said: "We are delighted that there will be an extra holiday opportunity in 2012."
People looking for ideas for holidays were given the recommendation of visiting some of the destinations that featured on the round-the-world tour taken by the Queen after her coronation.
The monarch and the Duke of Edinburgh travelled to
Jamaica,
Canada,
Sri Lanka,
New Zealand and several other countries.
