New hotel opened in Chicago
Travellers visiting Chicago now have a new accommodation option to choose from following the opening of the Avenue Crowne Plaza hotel.
The property is located near Michigan Avenue's Magnificent Mile district, which is one of the most popular tourist areas in the city.
InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) completed its conversion of the 40-storey building, which was previously known as the Avenue Hotel Chicago, in summer 2008.
The revamped property comprises 350 guestrooms featuring flat-screen televisions and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Other features include a rooftop pool, fitness centre and a spa, as well as 18,000 square feet of meeting space.
Guests can visit nearby attractions such as Water Tower Place, Lake Michigan and several shopping, dining and entertainment facilities.
Mik Mahdavi, general manager of the Avenue Crowne Plaza Chicago, said: "With the recent renovation, which impacted all guestrooms, meeting space and common areas, we've essentially been able to open a brand new property.
"We are extremely excited about branding the hotel as a Crowne Plaza."
IHG now owns two full-service hotels along Chicago's Magnificent Mile.
