Slovenia prepares for packed events programme
The Slovenia Tourist Office has confirmed details of a number of events that will be taking place in the country this year, potentially boosting its popularity as a travel hotspot.
People with a passion for art will be taking city breaks in Ljubljana to see an exhibition dedicated to Pablo Picasso, which will run until April 4th.
The display brings together 11 series of prints that explore common themes including bullfighting, mythology and Eros, the Greek god of love.
Holidaymakers who would like to learn about Slovenian culture during their trip can visit Ptuj, the country's oldest city, between February 6th and 16th for the Kurentovanje Festival.
Held annually, the event sees music concerts, dance shows, competitions parades and various other activities arranged in Ptuj, attracting over 100,000 visitors to the destination.
Other forthcoming highlights include the Ski Jumping and Ski Flying World Cup, which will take place in Planica, a valley in north-west Slovenia, from March 18th to 21st.
The current ski jump world record of 239 metres was set at this event in 2005.
