Slovakia recommended for skiers on a budget
Travellers who are hoping to stick to a budget during a skiing holiday this year have been urged to consider Slovakia.
Virgin Money carried out research which found that Bratislava is the cheapest destination for winter sports travellers, with costs of £545.94 for two people taking a six-day break.
The study covered ski hire, accommodation, a Big Mac, a pint of beer and entry to a popular attraction for two people in 12 cities around the world that are popular for ski and snowboarding holidays.
Bratislava was joined in the list of the five cheapest destinations by Ljubljana, Sarajevo, Innsbruck and Sapporo.
Grant Bather of Virgin Money said: "Ski season is hotly anticipated by a great number of people and more and more are looking to combine a few days on the slopes with a few days in a city.
"While a trip to Sapporo or Slovenia might seem a long way to travel, tourists can make their trip more cost effective when they arrive."
The glacier palace in Cervinia, Italy was the only attraction surveyed that offers free entry for visitors.
