British Airways confirms Comic Relief as charity partner
Travellers catching flights with British Airways will have the opportunity to contribute to a good cause following the airline's announcement that it has signed up Comic Relief as its new global charity partner.
The carrier said the move is part of its "long tradition" of providing help and support for disadvantaged communities and people around the world.
Customer donations and other sources will be used to raise money for Comic Relief, which will direct the funds to people in need both in the UK and in some of the poorest countries across the globe.
The partnership will allow Comic Relief to "reach out to staff and customers worldwide, all year round", said Kevin Cahill, the charity's chief executive.
Willie Walsh, chief executive officer of British Airways, said: "I'm proud to announce our new partnership with Comic Relief, which will expand and develop British Airways' role in helping some of the world's most vulnerable people.
"Comic Relief is a charity which I believe will inspire all our people on the ground and in the air."
Travellers will be able to make onboard donations during flights to New York, Sydney, Paris, Cape Town and other destinations served by the airline.
