Newquay 'appealing' for families
Families in the UK continue to find Newquay an appealing holiday destination, it has been claimed.
Teresa Timms, PR manager for tourist board VisitCornwall, said that the town's past as a traditional family resort has added to its attraction.
She noted that the destination beaches, varied accommodation options and accessible location make Newquay an ideal holiday spot for people looking to get away.
"Newquay is ideally placed to explore both the east and the west of [Cornwall]. Within 40 minutes you can get to the Eden Project and the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth," Ms Timms explained.
"St Ives and its famous Tate St Ives gallery is probably 50 minutes drive. It also has great public transport links including the Newquay-Par branch line which links with the mail railway line linking most of Cornwall with Newquay."
Last week, a report from Tourism Newquay revealed that the town is witnessing a surge in bookings from European travellers in the 2010 season.
