Singapore Tourism Board predicts record year
The Singapore Tourism Board (STB) has predicted record visitor numbers in 2010 following a strong start to the year.
Some 908,000 people visited the city-state in January, representing the highest number ever recorded for the month and a 17.6 per cent increase from the previous year.
On the back of the figure, Singapore's tourism agency predicted visitor numbers of between 11.5 and 12.5 million in 2010.
The destination's appeal will receive a significant boost this year with the opening of two integrated resorts - Marina Bay Sands and Resorts World Sentosa.
Eunice Yeo, the STB's area director for northern and western Europe, said: "This is a milestone year for Singapore. With the launch of yet more new attractions and events, Singapore continues to offer an increasingly vibrant and diverse tourism landscape."
There will also be several events taking place in Singapore throughout the year, including the Formula One grand prix and the Great Singapore Sale.
