Travellers promised value for money in Malaysia
Travellers visiting Malaysia this year will find that they get a lot for their money in the country, according to the national tourist board.
Abdul Rauf Abu Hassan, UK and Ireland director of Tourism Malaysia, said the destination provides "fantastic value", with cups of coffee available in bars and cafes for the equivalent of 59p and hotels in Kuala Lumpur providing rooms from £10 per night.
He also highlighted Malaysia Airlines' services to the country as an important contributor to its affordability, stating that the carrier's flights to Kuala Lumpur represent "excellent value for money".
Commenting on the appeal of the Malaysian capital, Mr Hassan claimed that the city is unique within Asia.
"No other Asian destination can offer such a diverse heritage and unique culture as Kuala Lumpur," he said.
"The city is Asia in a nutshell, with Malay, Chinese, Indian and indigenous influences. The result is an exciting melting pot of numerous religions and varied cuisines, with a flourishing arts scene."
Visitors to Kuala Lumpur were encouraged to see attractions including the Islamic Arts Museum and the Lake Gardens.
