Austrian Airlines targets 1m extra passengers this year
Austrian Airlines has revealed that it intends to boost its annual passenger numbers by one million with the introduction of its new summer schedule this year.
The carrier aims to offer improved services and lower prices to its customers through the deployment of larger aircraft and the introduction of new flights.
Almost all 50-seat planes will be removed from operation to be replaced by Airbus and Boeing jets, delivering more efficiency and higher levels of comfort for passengers.
Travellers will also benefit from increased frequencies on some of Austrian Airlines' key routes, including its flights from Heathrow Airport to Vienna in Austria.
The number of weekly services on the route - which is operated in partnership with bmi - will increase from 28 to 35.
Customers will also be offered an extended range of flights to Brussels, Zurich and Prague.
Andreas Bierwirth and Peter Malanik, members of Austrian Airlines' executive board, said the main aim of the changes is to provide a "concrete" reason for travellers to fly with the carrier.
