Free real-time travel guides to be published online
Travel website Simonseeks has announced the launch of a new initiative that will provide free, 'real-time' destination guides for consumers.
The company said that the new feature of its site will challenge traditional guidebooks and address the fact that their content has an "almost instant sell-by date".
A group of experts have been recruited to write guides on major destinations such as Rome, Paris, New York and Barcelona, providing information on topics ranging from accommodation and shopping to nightlife and money saving.
Further destinations are set to be covered over the next few months, including long-haul hotspots such as Cape Town, Hong Kong and Barbados.
Simon Nixon, founder of Simonseeks, said: "We thought it was time to challenge the role of traditional guidebooks. I believe the very nature of the internet and social media should allow holidaymakers access to up-to-date and relevant travel information.
"There is nothing more disheartening than reading travel tips and then realising it was written two years ago. Our 'expert' concept offers the answer to this problem and combines authority with peer reviews."
The guides will be extended over the coming months to cover restaurants, events and "city secrets".
