Open-top bus tours to begin in Larnaca

Open-top bus tours will soon be introduced in the popular holiday destination of Larnaca in Cyprus, it has been announced.

The Cyprus Tourism Organisation (CTO) confirmed that visitors will be able to choose from two different tours of the city and the surrounding area from May.

On the first route, passengers will be taken to several points of interest around Larnaca, including a medieval castle, the historic harbour of Kition and the Hala Soultan mosque in Tekke.

Those who would prefer to see more of the surrounding region can book a place on the second tour, which will visit nearby villages that have benefited from the growth of agricultural tourism.

This route will also include stops at the Neolithic settlement of Choirokitia, the church of Aggeloktisti in Kiti and other locations.

In a statement announcing the new tours, the CTO said: "Tourist[s] shall get to know the traditional villages of the region - which have in the past few years greatly developed their agrotourism product - and also get acquainted with the rich history and culture of the Larnaca region."

People interested in seeing this part of Cyprus can take flights to Larnaca with Cyprus Airways, easyJet, Monarch Airlines and other carriers.
