Taiwan to boast new attractions this year
Taiwan could become a more tempting option for people planning long-haul trips to Asia this year following the opening of some new attractions.
The island now boasts the continent's only African-style safari complex - the Leofoo Resort Guanshi.
Located in Hsinchu County, the resort features 164 rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, which provide unobstructed views of free-roaming African animals including rhinoceros, giraffes, ostriches and ring-tailed lemurs.
People planning a trip to Taiwan this year will also be able to visit one of the destination's most popular tourist attractions, Sun Moon Lake, to try out a new cable car line.
The Sun Moon Lake Ropeway takes passengers on a 1.8km journey over the surface of the lake, offering impressive views of the surrounding mountain scenery.
It provides a link between an activity centre that houses 50 species of rare butterflies and the Aboriginal Culture Village, a theme park that celebrates indigenous communities and their cultures.
The Taiwan Tourism Bureau also revealed that Air China will be boosting its capacity on flights to Taipei from four destinations in China this year, providing additional connections for people travelling from the UK.
