Paris prepares for Bastille Day celebrations
Travellers will be arranging city breaks in Paris soon to experience one of France's biggest annual celebrations.
The country hosts a giant Bastille Day party every year on July 14th to commemorate the storming of the Bastille prison, one of the first significant events of the French Revolution.
All sorts of spectacles are arranged for local people and visitors to enjoy, including a military parade along the Champs Elysees that features jets flying in formation above the city.
People visiting Paris on July 14th can also expect to see several fireworks displays, with the biggest being launched in the Saint Germain des Pres district and around Montparnasse.
Various other celebrations are held throughout the French capital, including traditional shows and demonstrations at some of the city's fire stations.
While the most famous Bastille Day festivities are held in Paris, travellers can also expect to encounter events in other big cities such as Marseille and Bordeaux.
Several international locations with large French populations also mark the occasion, including Budapest, London and New Orleans.
