Copenhagen restaurant voted best in world
Copenhagen could prove a more attractive destination for people planning culinary holidays this year after one of the city's restaurants was named the best in the world.
Noma took the top spot in this year's San Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants list.
The famous El Bulli establishment in Roses, Spain, which won the title for four consecutive years between 2006 and 2009, had to settle for second place this year, while Heston Blumenthal's The Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire came third.
Commenting at the awards event in London, Noma head chef Rene Redzepi said: "When we started seven years ago none of us imagined we could take it so far.
"Our restaurant is testament to the fact that if you have the right team and surround yourself with people to develop with, anything is possible."
Compiled by Restaurant magazine, this year's list of the top 50 dining establishments in the world featured Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy in sixth place, followed by Alinea in Chicago and Daniel in New York in seventh and eighth positions respectively.
