Chicago visitors offered free tour
Travellers planning city breaks in Chicago this year will be able to take advantage of a free tour programme that is being introduced in the city's Old Town neighbourhood.
The Chicago Office of Tourism announced that the Old Town InstaGreeter programme will be available from May 29th to October 9th, inviting visitors to take a one-hour guided walk through the area with a local resident.
People who would like to take part in a tour should head to the lobby of the Second City comedy club between 10:00 and 15:00 local time on a Saturday.
Groups will be limited to six people or fewer and will be decided on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations required.
Chicago Office of Tourism director Dorothy Coyle said: "Chicago is famous for the diversity of its neighbourhoods. The Old Town InstaGreeter service is a unique way for visitors to discover a new neighbourhood through the eyes of a Chicagoan."
A similar service will also be available in the city's Hyde Park from May 29th.
Flights to Chicago are available with American Airlines, KLM, United Airlines and other carriers.
