Krakow Film Festival to celebrate 50th outing
Travellers taking city breaks in Krakow, Poland this spring will have the opportunity to attend a high-profile event as it celebrates its 50th anniversary.
The 2010 Krakow Film Festival will run from May 31st to June 6th.
Documentaries, short films and animated pieces traditionally feature strongly on the programme of the festival, which is the oldest event of its kind in Poland.
This year, visitors will be able to see several entries representing contemporary cinema in Israel.
A number of awards will be handed out to some of the most successful films, with the Golden Horn and Golden Dragon trophies among the top accolades.
Bogdan Becla, acting director of the Polish National Tourist Office, said: "We have a great tradition in film and cinema in Poland and some great directors have started their careers in Krakow, like Krzysztof Kieslowski and Wojciech Wiszniewski.
"The Krakow Film Festival is an established, world-famous event that attracts some top short films and documentaries from around the world. And of course it'll be extra special for its jubilee edition."
Visitors can see screenings at venues such as the Kijow Centrum and Mikro cinemas.
