Post Office: Long-haul destinations proving popular
The currencies of long-haul destinations such as Indonesia, Kenya and Egypt are attracting high demand from British travellers, the Post Office has revealed.
Recent figures suggest that the Egyptian pound, the Indonesian rupiah and the Kenyan shilling will all be "big sellers", along with Turkey's lira currency, according to Sarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Services.
However, Ms Munro also said that recent gains made by the pound against the single European currency could encourage travellers to visit countries in the eurozone such as Spain and Portugal.
"With sterling beginning to strengthen against the euro and discounting in many popular eurozone resorts, we expect these to do well in the coming months," she said.
The Post Office released a report last month which indicated that consumer confidence is beginning to return to the travel industry, with exchange bureaux reporting year-on-year growth for all ten of the organisation's top currencies in March.
