EasyJet launches Manchester to Sharm el Sheikh flights
EasyJet has expanded its network from Manchester Airport with the launch of flights to Sharm el Sheikh in Egypt.
The carrier announced that it would be promoting its new route by sponsoring young scuba diver Marc Oliver Williams, offering him free return trips to Sharm el Sheikh to help him gain a PADI Divemaster qualification.
Travellers are currently being offered three weekly flights to the popular holiday destination from Manchester Airport with easyJet.
Ali Gayward, the airline's commercial manager, said: "We're excited to be operating yet another new route from Manchester and what better way to celebrate making a top diving spot more accessible to the north-west than helping a local scuba diver to achieve his dream of becoming a dive professional?
"As well as diving and snorkelling, the stunning coastal resort of Sharm el Sheikh is an ideal destination for winter sun."
Andrew Harrison, Manchester Airport's commercial director, revealed that Egypt is "fast becoming" one of the most popular destinations for passengers travelling from north-west England.
EasyJet has also launched flights to Menorca and Zurich from the base recently.
