New Route to Tunisia Opens with TunisAir Flights

TunisAir have introduced a new weekly route between London and Djerba

It has been revealed by Tunisia’s main air carrier TunisAir that, in a bid to provide greater access for tourists travelling to Tunisia, a new weekly route has opened between London and Djerba. The largest island off the coast of Tunisia, Djerba remains a popular tourist destination which is set to benefit hugely from the new London link.

Opening last Friday, the direct link from London to Djerba will offer a host of new opportunities for passengers wishing to visit the idyllic island which is as famous for its glistening beaches and beautiful sunsets as it is for being the filming location for the original Star Wars series. Part of a joint collaboration between TunisAir and the nation’s Tourism Ministry, the twice weekly flights occurring on Mondays and Thursdays will provide the perfect opportunity for Tunisia to build an increasing presence in the global tourism industry. Already attracting over 300,000 British individuals per year, the new route looks set to not only benefit Djerba but Tunisia as a whole as travelers opt to further their island vacation to the main land.

Quickly becoming a favourite destination with people from the UK, Tunisia’s first appearance on the tourism market came after a 2008 Open Sky negotiation allowed a range of low budget airlines to operate flights between London and airports such as Tunis in the North African country. And with TunisAir’s latest addition now in operation Tunisia’s appeal seems likely to only grow.
