Sex and the City has led many New York hotels to create special holiday packages

With the opening of the second 'Sex and the City' (SATC) movie at the end of May once again causing a flurry of excitement for fans and the movie industry a number of American hotels have decided to cash in on the popularity. And with both economy and business flights to the Big Apple readily available from a variety of British locations, access to the haunts of Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte has never been as easy.

Taking the TV industry by storm when it debuted in 1998 before making its way across the Atlantic to British screens in 1999, SATC has become an iconic and cult show. Spawning six series and two movies fans readily follow the life of New York writer Carrie Bradshaw and her three friends, incorporating their glamorous and stylish lifestyles into their own world. And whilst the latest movie has not proved the big hit many hoped for after the first film caused frenetic excitement around the world, a range of U.S hotels have created special SATC packages to suit any group of women looking for a short break in the iconic city or beyond.

Manhattan's Hotel Gansevoort is offering its 'Girls in the City' break for $545 including SATC DVD and book, accommodation, VIP passes to nightclubs and discounts at several city boutiques. Meanwhile New York's Affinia Hotels offer a tour of the filming locations and rooms with packages starting at $219, whilst Houston's Sorella CityCentre proves that a SATC break doesn't have to be in New York, offering cinema tickets, DVD, accommodation and Victoria Secret gift cards with deals beginning at $218. And with a range of operators offering competitive flights from locations such as London Heathrow, Glasgow, Newcastle and Manchester, SATC fever is likely to carry on long past the movie schedule as fans flock to the places and sights that the films and characters love to enjoy.
