Travellers Flying to and from Glasgow to Note Major Access Change
Glasgow Airport is starting its improvement programme, including new road signs on the M8
Glasgow Airport has revealed that a major overhaul of their access points and transport links will result in travellers departing and arriving at the airport noting considerable change to the forecourt from the 8th June. In a bid to ease congestion and reduce carbon emissions from vehicles managing director of the airport, Amanda McMillan, revealed that plans were to "support sustainable transport," in addition to bringing the airport into the 21st century.
Investing £2m in the changes, Glasgow airport will have facilities completely upgraded with the main terminal having a specific traveller drop-off access point built to replace 2007's temporarily instated zone in the main car park. With quick access to both check-in and international arrival zones, travellers will also benefit from a range of live information screens providing updates on incoming and outgoing flights in addition to other airport data.
Expressing the need for the upgrades to an airport which provides flights not only to domestic regions but cities across the world such as Buenos Aires, Sydney and Nairobi, Ms McMillan said "We have designed a package of measures that makes it easier for passengers and motorists to access Glasgow Airport." She added that with a network of new signs from the M8 the changes would be obvious to those attending the airport whilst an "attractive forecourt area and intuitive road network" would provide an up to date international airport feeling whilst remaining accessible and navigational to all.
