Icelandair have increased the number of services between Manchester, Glasgow and Reykjavik

Whilst the ongoing eruption from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano has caused disruption to the air industry it has been revealed that the ash issues are not to delay Icelandair's plans to increase services to a number of British airports. Expressing that the new additions would begin later this year, the airline confirmed that routes from Glasgow and Manchester were to be increased bringing its weekly services between Reykjavik and the UK cities to five.

In a bid to allow travellers more freedom when making connections to the firm's transatlantic flights Icelandair revealed that the additional services would begin on September 14th and run through to October 26th. Expressing that Iceland was often best seen in the Autumn months Icelandair's UK and Ireland general manager, Hjorvar Saeberg Hognason, revealed that not only would the additional services allow more flexibility for those wanting to experience the country but would give greater flexibility to those wishing to travel on further. "This will provide our passengers with increased convenience and flexibility to travel to Iceland to take advantage of the favourable exchange rate, plus increase the options for connecting onwards to fantastic destinations like New York City, Boston, Seattle and more," Mr Hognason explained.

The additional services are particularly important for Manchester airport which has seen a notable increase in services of late. Becoming a central hub for individuals looking to travel overseas the airport has also noted two additional Munich flights, allowing easy and quick access to Germany with Singapore Airlines.
