A new study on the changing tastes from British travellers has revealed that a rising passion for exotic locations is likely to cause the demand for cheap long-haul flights to increase. With 14per cent of Brits now longing for a dream break to places such as Asia, access to inspirational and culturally rich countries such as India may improve as airlines look to fill the niche.

Revealed in the latest survey by swiftcover.com data showed that a quarter of all their travel policies sold are now for long haul destinations. And of the 1,000 individuals questioned 14per cent expressed interest in getting "off the beaten track" to explore places such as India. An expansive country housing one sixth of the planets population, India continues to provide a draw to many individuals. Those looking for inner peace and spiritualism travel to Tamil Nadu's temples or the holy city of Varanasi. Meanwhile backpackers continue to relish the opportunity to delve into some of India's most popular cities such as Mumbai, Calcutta and Delhi.

With such anticipation amongst those wishing to travel to such a vibrant and distinct country, airlines have made moves to provide ample choice. London Heathrow, Birmingham and Manchester all offer services to a range of Indian cities for competitively moderate prices allowing those dreams of an exotic holiday to be closer at hand than many may expect.
