Africa Set For Tourist Boom as Hotel Group Expands
Elmina Castle, on the coast south of Accra is a popular tourist destination in Ghana.
Best Western International, the largest hotel chain in the world, has revealed that it is to open three new premises in Ghana and Nigeria, offering a wide range of guestrooms for both tourists and business individuals. Countries in West Africa are currently seeing an increase in tourism, and flights to such countries look set to follow suit.
Opening the Premier Accra Airport Hotel in the Ghanaian city of Accra and two premises in Nigeria in Port Harcourt and Lagos, Best Western revealed that tourism growth in the regions has a huge potential. In Ghana the newly built hotel offers 24 suites and 89 rooms, providing travellers with free internet, bathrobes and flat screen television sets. A constant concierge service and free transport back and forth from the airport also provides guests with an added convenience.
Elsewhere the two hotels in Nigeria both offer restaurants and cocktail bars to entertain guests. While Lagos's Beach Hotel is newly constructed and offers free 24hr room service and breakfast, Port Harcourt's Harcourt Hotel has been upgraded to 'Premier' status, offering guests throughout its 89 rooms the finest level of service.
Best Western's latest developments mark an important move in the industry, as the potential for tourism and business with African nations becomes increasingly recognised. A large number of routes already exist from British airports including direct flights from London Heathrow, and with economy, premium economy and business flights offering a range of comfort, demand for such flights looks set to increase over the coming months.
