Monarch Increase Services to Spain

Monarch Airlines has announced an additional 22 flights to Spain and its surrounding islands over the August Bank Holiday week

With Spain and its surrounding islands continuing to remain some of the most popular summer holiday destinations among British travellers, airline Monarch has revealed that it is to increase services back and forth to a number of locations over the August Bank Holiday week. With many travellers looking for a last minute deal to escape to the sun, the 22 extra flights will offer customers an additional 4,000 seats from August 27th to September 5th.

Noting a particularly high demand from its passengers, Monarch stated that record levels of travellers seeking a respite to the Spanish islands during the months of July had led them to increase services over the popular Bank Holiday Week. With a host of cheap deals and flights available to lure passengers, the additional services will fly from a range of British airports including Luton, Gatwick and Manchester. Increasing the total amount of services to Gibraltar to 12 per week, other destinations receiving additional flights will be Palma, Alicante and Malaga.  

Speaking of the airline's decision to offer tourists with a host of new flight options, Monarch's managing director, Tim Jeans, commented "We believed at the start of the year demand this summer would lie in our eastern Med destinations such as Turkey and Cyprus." He added that the falling euro had considerably impacted upon demand, resulting in western Mediterranean regions including Portugal and Spain seeing a significant rise in flight demand. While the additional flights may be short lived, the increased services will allow tourists to grab a last minute holiday over the popular August week.
